UHS MCAT , PUNJAB An entrance test is conducted annually by the University of Health Sciences (UHS), Lahore, for admissions in public and private sector medical/dental colleges of Punjab. MCAT is usually held in the month of September once a year (can vary from year to year). More then 40,000 students appear annually from all over the Punjab.
The eligible candidates compete for over 3,000 MBBS and 200 BDS seats in 18 public sector medical and dental colleges of Punjab (subject to change).
Note that only those students who have a Domicile of Punjab & a score of 60% or higher in F.Sc or A'Levels equivalence are eligible to appear in the MCAT. The ratio for calculating the final aggregate merit is 50% (entrance test) : 40% (F.Sc or A'level equivalence) : 10% (Metric or O'level equivalence).
Details of seat allocation of each public sector medical/dental college along with the model papers are available on the website (uhs.edu.pk). Giving a thorough look to the sample/model papers can prove beneficial and so is recommended. UHS Test For Admission In Private Sector Medical/Dental colleges:
In addition to public sector medical & dental colleges, there are more than 1,500 MBBS and 400 BDS seats available in 15 private sector medical & eight dental colleges of the Punjab (subject to change). Most of the private sector medical & dental colleges of the province no longer conduct their own entrance tests. Instead, they now base their merit on the UHS Entrance Test score, along with the individual's performance in A'levels/FSc. So this makes UHS Entrance Test's score extremely crucial as the admissions in all the public/private sector medical & dental colleges of Punjab now depends upon its score. Structure Of Entrance Test:
It is a MCQ based test consisting of 220 Mcqs with a total time of 150 minutes (2.5 hours). There are 88 Biology Mcqs, 58 Chemistry Mcqs, 44 Physics Mcqs and 30 English Mcqs. However, the pattern & structure of the entrance test can change from year to year. So log on to uhs.edu.pk for the latest details. The test has negative marking. 1 mark is deducted for each wrong answer whereas 5 marks are given for each correct answer. Neither a mark is deducted nor added in case the candidate leaves the question unanswered. Total marks for the test are 1100 (22o x 5=1100). A ball pen is to be used to shade the correct answer option on the provided answer sheet. RELATED TOPICS
