NUST Entrance TestNUST Entrance Test (NET) is conducted annually by NUST for admission in Army Medical College (NUST) for the M.B.B.S & B.D.S programs.
Entrance exam was usually held in the month of September. However from the year 2013, NUST has started the practice of holding multiple Entrance Exams at different times of the year. Two entrance tests were held in the year 2013, the first one in the months of April/May whereas the second one was held in June/July.
Following the similar trend, NUST will be holding multiple tests, at different times, in the year 2014. More than twenty thousand students appear annually, making Army Medical College one of the most sought after medical college in Pakistan. There are almost 150 and 50 seats for MBBS & BDS programs respectively (subject to change).
The ratio for calculating the final aggregate merit is 50% (entrance test) : 40% (F.Sc or A' level equivalence) : 10% (Metric or O'level equivalence). The ratio is also however, subject to change Model paper is available on the NUST website (nust.edu.pk), it can help students get an idea about the type of questions that will be asked in the entrance exam.
Structure Of Entrance Test :
It is a MCQ based test, consisting of a total 200 MCQs with a total time of 180 minutes (3 hours). The structure of the entrance test held in 2013 was 80 Biology MCQs, 60 Chemistry MCQs, 30 Physics MCQs, 20 English MCQs & 10 General Awareness MCQs. However, the structure and pattern of the entrance test may change from year to year. So log on to nust.edu.pk for the latest information. There is no negative marking. A pencil is used to shade each correct option on the provided answer sheet. Type Of Questions :
The questions appearing in the entrance test are not conceptual (based on the core concept of a topic), in contrast to what NUST has always claimed. Questions are rather of 'ratta' type. Much of the questions are however, simple and are easily understood by most of the students. Recommended Books :
Questions are usually designed from the F.Sc Course-books, so it is recommend for F.Sc. students to strictly limit their study to the F.Sc course-books. Giving a thorough reading to the textbooks can do the trick. As for the A' Level students, giving F.Sc. books a reading, at least once, is highly recommended. |
